Löwenbräu Zurich is among the city’s most fascinating mega developments, and includes the Löwenbräukunst art complex, one of the most internationally renowned centers for contemporary art housing the Kunsthalle Zürich; the Migros Museum; the blue-chip galleries Hauser & Wirth, Galerie Francesca Pia, Galerie Eva Presenhuber; and other galleries and art publishers. Sharing equal stature are the distinctive office tower, Löwenbräu Red, and the residential tower, Löwenbräu Black, which rises above the landmarked brewery building built in 1897 and situated just a few minutes away from the city’s main railway station. The Löwenbräu complex is also the base of operations for (untitled)’s European operations.
Designed by leading Swiss architects Gigon/Guyer, renowned for their work on institutional arts projects, Untitled not only served as partner for this mixed-use development, but also designed a residential tower concept apartment. Drawing from our ties to the New York art and design world, our white box gallery concept and interpretation of Donald Judd minimalism and Enzo Mari handmade wood artisanship was subsequently published in several international design publications and led to our current work conceptualizing a restaurant and wine bar project that will be contained within the historical silo structure itself, reinforcing the interplay of historical architecture and contemporary design that is already interwoven in the project’s DNA.
